2005/2006 a year in Review

Hrms…

I should probably do a year in review commentary.  Seems like only yesterday it was 1985 and we were thinking 2000 was never going get here.

Now 2005 has come and gone.   Wow, I’m getting old.

2005 was pretty good to us I think all in all.

I need to noodle on that for a while.

2005 New Years Eve

A good time was had at my cousin Angie’s house with her housband Kris.

Thanks for having us!

I know the girls enjoyed playing with Bruce, and hanging out with Suzie.  It was fun playing cards with Lisa and Hughffff too.

It was fun taking your money too, er at least part of it.  We broke even for the the night.

Adam was the big winner, and I’d guess so seein how he was drinking water the whole time.

Sheesh, I kept waiting for the wrestling match to break out.  Wanted to see Hugh put the boy where he belonged, show him how math really works out in the country.  Don’t be dissin a guy that big for that long. 🙂

Great fun.

Thanks again for having us.

Motorcycles and Carbs oh my

Well today was nice enough (read warm enough) to actually get outside and start to take the carbs of of Zed.

Apparently I’m not as smart as I thought I was.

Each time I take this bike apart I get faster at it, which is good, but that’s not the idea here. I don’t want to take it apart all the time.

It really only took about an hour to get to the carbs and figure out how to get them off the bike. No big deal.

There are however things that still attach to it, like the throttle cable(s), choke, and air/idle adjust cable. The latter two were easy enough to get off.

The throttle cable has me completely stumped.

Here’s hoping someone on TWT can shed some light on the issue or what I’m failing to grasp. I’m starting to wonder why I didn’t just take the whole dang bike to the shop and not just the carbs….

The Bengals 0-2 in the last 2 Grrrr.

The Bengals have had a hell of a year, a hell of a run to get into the playoff for sure.

It was very clear last week when Buffalo came to town. They were 14 point underdogs to the Bengals with no chance of making the playoffs.

But they came to play, and play they did. No only did the upset the Bengals but the pretty much embarrassed them at home. Even though the Bengals played poorly, and poorly is probably an understatement, at no time during that game did I feel like the Bengals were out of it. Even when Buffalo gave them the ball back with a minute plus on the clock and no time outs. I thought, no big deal, drive down the field, field goal to tie it up, over-time and we win there.

But nope, a costly un-Carson like interception and ti was game over.

Fast forward to this week at Arrowhead. It’s hard enough to win there.

Marvin.jpg

The Chiefs need a miracle from Detroit to get in. Detroit to beat Pittsburgh, like that’s going to happen. We blew a chance at the 2nd seed last week, but a win here today going into the playoffs sets the tone in my mind. a 30-3 route by the Chiefs sends a message too and it’s not a good one. I don’t care that Carson only played one series.
The way things are looking we play Pittsburgh at home next week. Pittsburgh doesn’t scare me anymore than any other team in the playoffs. Any more than the Chiefs scared me today. But look at what the Chiefs accomplished.

I fear the Bengals played above their true potential this year, or that they rested on their record the last two games. Neither of which is good.

I’m stoked we have a 11-5 record, but so does Pittsburgh.

New England finishes up at 10-6, both teams have better defenses against the run, and you win games by running the ball in the playoffs.

Pittsburgh goes into the playoffs on a 4 game win streak, the Bengals on a 2 game losing streak, this weeks a complete beating at the hands of the Chiefs.

It will be very interesting to see if Marvin will have the men ready for this game. It has a lot of the same feeling as the first time Pittsburgh came to town. That was a big game at home.  I certainly hope the outcome is better.

The Final Christmas Get together

The Dishers and the Lumans at the Dishers.

Once again we returned to my parents to have dinner and exchange gifts with my dads side of the family.

My grandpa and grandma ‘butchie’ as they are reffered to, because my grandpa always called me ‘butchie’ when I was little.

My uncle Mike and aunt Karen, cousin Jeremey and his wife Glenda and son Ivan. My other cousin Jeff and his ficticious wife ‘Amanda’ is it? Didn’t come, something about the stomach flu or something. I still haven’t met this wife of his.

Glenda is pregnant so Ivan’s getting a brother in the summer.

Robin and Ken were there with Emery and Sofia as well.

Again good food, good beer, good times. Lots of gifts. Ivan got a sword, what more does a boy need? 🙂

Photos are in the gallery:

Michael is taller than Jeremey now, but so are most people 😉

Aunt Karen and Uncle Mike are looking good, as are Grandma and Granpad Butchie.
