Well we’ve done it.

We’ve joined the fitness class of folk. Those with those total core two home ab workout machine in their house.

After looking around we went with this:

A Norditrack EXP1000

Yeah I know it doesn’t have the best reviews but it’s not the worst of all possibilities either. It really depends on which site you go to. But we got a fair price for a used unit and this one is in pretty good shape. We’ll pick it up tomorrow. I figure after the hernia operation that will be needed from moving it, I won’t get to use it for 6 months anyway. 🙂

We’ll see how long we use it, and if we use it as often and as much as we hope (and need to). If so we’ll upgrade at a later date. If it becomes a clothes drying rack as most do then we won’t have spent too much on it.

New look

Yeah, the site has a new look as of yesterday. I was already tired of the old one. It was too plain. This WordPress theme is very nice. Props the creator(s). Links in the footer. Some modifications have been made.

Homeschooling

Yep, we do it, a lot of families to it these days.

No I’m not here to convince you that you should. It’s a personal decision and not one to be taken lightly.

There are lots of things to consider before you make this decision, year in and year out you’ll reevaluate your decision as your kids get older.

My grandpa had a saying “Don’t be down on what you’re not up on”. It’s a hard thing to do, that is, not to be down on something you’re not up on. Some things in life you just don’t like and you may not even have a reason so you’re down on them.

I know I can be that way.

What does that have to do with home schooling? Home schooling is often misunderstood. But people are inherently down on it, especially teachers or anyone that has worked in a school system. They are convinced that a classroom environment is the best environment.

Of course they have a vested interest in promoting schools, they work there 🙂 It’s what they went to school for. They love the children, lots of them and the more the merrier.

Who-Dey, 9-3 and in the playoffs!

Pittsburgh? No! 9-3 is sweet, the first winning season in years, and we now own the division. That was sweet. Pittsburgh who? Nothing is better than taking back what’s ours.

They have owned us for sooo long, it was nice to take a win in the steel city. The Bengals are for real, it’s true. There I’ve said it. I’ve been on the fence, jaded for sooo long, but it’s true.

Who-Dey 🙂

Turtles – Red Ear Sliders to be exact.

Nice, what a wonderful idea this was, and my wife is reminding me that it was my idea. Someone at gymnastics had posted a flyer about three free turtles complete with aquariums 20 gallons each. I asked Molly about it because Michael has a fish tank already and the girls have wanted one for a while. Molly and I talked about it but it was late in the day and there are 1.2 million gymast at CGA so I figured they were probably gone.

The next day Michael found the flyer and called, of course the weren’t gone. He adopted 3 turtles. Nice. So we had to explain to him that the girls get at least two for their room.

So we think we know what we should know about aquatic turtles, and attempt to set up the habitat. Apparently we don’t know squat. The tanks are 10 gallon not 20 and are too small for even the smallest turtle we have.

It’s nice that there are sites like Red Ear Slider.

Now we’re on the quest to build the perfect or as near perfect little habitat as our budget will allow. More updates later.
