10/22 Soccer Report

The Green Machine was tied for 4th place and was playing their rival the dreaded White team today! This was their chance to step up and prove that they they don’t belong at the bottom of the league.

Much like the Reds do, they jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the first quarter but couldn’t hold on. The lack of substitutes really hurt the team. The White Menace just wore them down. Final result 5-3.

There are a couple good action shots of Maggie in the Gallery:

The games were stacked almost one on top of each other. I didn’t get to see M aria play today.

They each have one more game next weekend to round out this seasons soccer schedule.

Day 5

Monday, Monday, da-da, da.da.da…

After reporting last night I was watching the Walker Texas Ranger mini-movie. I couldn’t record it per see because football got things off schedule. Meaning to record a show you go to the guide, pick a time slot and say ‘record’ and it records that show for the time period.

Well the move was supposed to start at 9pm but it didn’t start until 10pm, because football ran late I guess. So 60 minutes was late, then CSI or some other show was late, THEN the movie. So when I wanted to start recording it, well it wouldn’t let me.

But I knew that as long as I was watching it was recording.

Now at the end of the movie I wanted to save that, but there’s no way to do that. I flipped channels accidentally and *poof* it was gone.

Oh well it will be on again.

Monday morning came, the alarm sounded and I hopped out of bed. Walked downstairs to make the coffee. Something was different.

Hey, I can see my breath.

It’s cold in here. I think we should turn the heat on. So I walked over to the thermostat, 59 degrees in the house nice. But uhm the heat is on. Well the thermostat is on but the heat obviously isn’t.

Nice….

Our furnace is 3 years old? but it is such a lemon.

So I turned it off and back on, and it actually started, at least I thought it did. It’s an oil furnace, so it burns until it heats up, then the blower kicks on. But when that time came, it died…

Crap… Another thing to deal with.

Grandmother is supposed to be here it’s 8:30… 8:35 my cell phone rings, I know what that means 🙂 I inherited my over-sleeping from my mother-in-law.

No biggie though, I can leave and she’ll be here shortly. I fart around with the furnace for another 20 minutes and then give up finally deciding this is best left for the expert that installed it.

I chatted with Molly and explained to her what I expected to be done today. I had done the dishes the night before. I wrote on the white board who would do what. She would pickup the living-room and her room. Michael should do the Kitchen and Vacuum.

Off to take care of Cisco, then to work.

Work was work, Monday is manager meeting day.

After work I arranged to pickup the kids and meet grandmother at gymnastics to pickup Molly.

We then debate what’s for dinner, and decide it’s time for Burger King.

They have this Angus beef burger, mushroom n swiss that’s about as good as any restaurant burger I’ve had. Mighty tasty. And for like $5.49 for a meal it’s a deal, you can’t beat it.

No we’re not talking eat on the cheap, $.99 double cheese burgers here, this is a good burger.

Kid of course wanted toys, and Michael polished off a Whopper.

After that it was home to get ready for bed. (yeah I know stuff them full of fast food late and send them to bed, it’s real healthy, but that’s our lifestyle sometimes with all the things we have going on).

All in all a pretty decent weekend.

Everything got done except for the vacuuming.

So tally for the long weekend:

Injuries: 0
Beatings: 0
Deaths: 0
Bruised ego: 1 (maybe over the headphone/cd player thing)

All good.

Even Maria told me tonight when I tucked her in, it’s not so bad, not bad at all, having me being in charge.

Day 4 Part II

I realized as I dug around on the Internet and found the church that it would be easier to give my mom the GPS than give her directions.

We decided that it was time that Michael start paying attention to life. When he’s out and about he should be paying attention to where he’s going and what’s going on around him. He’s 14 and a half and the last thing I need is a geographically impaired 16 year old when he starts driving.

Mom picked up the kids and I went to take care of the horse.

The rest of the day was again lackadaisical. I worked on some code and watched the Bengals. The first half left me hanging thinking I was watching the same old Bengals, but the second half was exciting.

Around 6pm I did the horse again and then mom dropped the kids off. Molly and Maria played cards and Michael played some more PS2.

We ordered Domino’s. They have this new Steak Fanatic Pizza. So we ordered the special, one of those and a pepperoni. It’s no good. Bad pizza.

Like Cheese Steak pizza only without the cheese steak taste (no peppers or onions). No good. Kinda blah.

9 O’clock rolled around and the girls went down with little fuss.

Michael went to bed at 10 for a change, or at least that was the plan. I asked him to be in bed lights out at 10. To accomplish that I reminded him he should start getting ready at 10-till. At 10 after his light was still on and noise was still coming from his room. (he dilly dallies like Maria). So I put the hammer down.

I’m watching and recording a ‘New Texas Ranger movie’ It’s just as cheesy, but they’ve updated it with better car crashes, some CSI technology, and bullet time effects, and instead of Walker always beating up on rednecks he’s beating up on real orientals this time. Makes for a better kung-fu movie.

Man, Chuck Norris is a bad actor.

Day 4

Day 4:

This day will be pretty interesting and should be easy I think, at least the first half.

We all again slept in until about 8:30am, when I was woken by Molly asking if they should get up and get ready. I said sure. She also asked if she should make breakfast? I said sure if you want to. She asked how I made my eggs so I told her.

About 9am she came back in and said “Tell Maria to leave her shoes alone, and you’re eggs are ready”.

My mom is picking up the kids, and Michaels, non-girlfriend, girlfriend, and taking them to a play that Claudine’s parents are playing in. (not acting in, but playing in the orchestra). So I’ll be home alone until about 4pm. I should get to watch the Bengals by myself, which will be a change of pace.

We finish our breakfast and try like hell to get Maria to brush her hair, something she’s not at all fond of doing.

Then my mom calls and you can tell my dad is a little frantic about my mom, nor Michael not knowing exactly where this church is that where she is supposed to pick Jenny up. I thought all these details were handled?

No biggie we’ll deal with it.

Maria is currently brushed, and Molly is trying to find some hair pretties. We’re waiting for grandma.

to be continued…

Day 3 Part II

After the soccer match and posting part II, we decided to just chill for a while. Maria was obviously a little over done. Somewhere in between tired from soccer, but still in that I need attention phase so what ever Molly or Michael did she had to make sure she did something even if it was mean to someone else.

Of course she doesn’t ever stop eating. I don’t know where the food goes.

It’s lunch time and Molly had been dying to cook, so it’s time for the dreaded Pizza bites. I think this is her chance to prove herself, that she can do a lot of the things her big sister Maggie can do. 🙂

We turned on the TV and watched what the kids always want to watch, ‘Walker Texas Ranger’, two episodes, and ate the pizza bites.

After that we stumbled across Jason and the Arganots so we (the girls and I) cuddled on the couch and watched that for a while. Michael played PS-2 upstairs.

Around 5:30pm I decided we’d been lazy long enough and we needed to close the pool. Michael and I took care of that. That took about an hour.

We debated what we’d do for dinner, Pizza or Wendy’s. We had to go take care of Cisco, and maybe just maybe take a trip to WalMart.

We ran to the barn, did Cisco’s stall and brought him in. I remembered the gift card I had for Best Buy so we stopped in there and looked around.

Michael wants a Game boy Mini. I looked at Camera stuff, and of course we looked at new TV’s

We found the Holy Grail of TV’s:

This baby is Plasma (yeah I know) but it had the best picture in the house. Built in HDTV tuner, Card reader for photos, build in HDTV Digital video recorder! You can send back your digital cable box, this has it built in. It’s only $4999 🙂

Anyway, as much as the kids wanted me to buy this, I didn’t. We escaped Best Buy without spending a dime and decided on Wendy’s.

Dinner was uneventful, and we headed home for desert only to find that we were out of ice cream 🙁 I’ll have to make that up to the kids tonight.

I sent the girls up for their baths and worked on some web stuff that I’m working on and watched the Nascar race, only to find that even though I recorded it plus a 1 hour overage, I still didn’t get the final 10 laps. Arrrgh!
