Bengals Week 1, off to a good start but…

Wow, what a game. I think *most* Bengals fans expected a win. But nobody expected this.

The talk of the town today will be the ‘D’ and with good reason.

When a team give you 6 turnovers, or a +4 differential you need to win by more than 7, and the game shouldn’t come down to a goal line stand.

The O? What the… Carson is awesome, no doubt about it, but that might as well have been Kitna. No wait, Kitna would have made a few more of those short passes that were just bad. Over thrown, on the wrong shoulder, behind the receiver. Was he trying to get TJ killed? Carson didn’t have a good night.

The D? Much more aggressive than anyone thought, but if it wasn’t for the fact that the Ravens ‘gave’ us this game by virtue of (6) turnovers. It would have been much uglier.

The corners still need work. A more mobile QB would have killed us last night.

Rudi, lets talk about Rudi. 18 carries for 50 years, one of those a 15 yarder, nice, but the highlight still was his give away. 1 good run by Rudi late in the game isn’t what we need. We’ll take it, but Rudi needs to make an impact, early in the game, not when the game is already decided. Take away the 15 yarder and you have 17 carries for 35 yards. That’s horrible, I don’t care who the other defense is. His fumble let the Ravens back in the game. I certainly hope he’s buying the defense dinner because they saved his bacon.

All in all though, that was probably one of the most up/down/exciting Bengal games I’ve watched in a long time.

Chad? That celebration was weak…

Bengals get B*tch-Slapped by the Patriots 38-13 are now 3-1

Perhaps the Thurman and Henry issues on the team are bigger than anyone would like to think.

The look on Chad Johnsons’s face says it all:

Chad

It was horrible. The Bengals _stole_ a win in Pittsburgh last week and I think they took that for granted. Again the offense sputtered. Both initial drives should have resulted in 14 points and only ended up as 6. It was down hill from there.

The D? What D? The improved run stopping D that gave up 200+ yards on the ground? Man did it look bad. They need a real safety, and Big Nate, didn’t seem to help much today. They ran right by him like short bus passes the regular kids.

I must say I wasn’t fully expecting a win today. But I didn’t expect the Bengals to get blown out. Nope. I thought Chad would have a big day or if he didn’t Kelly Washington would because nobody can cover all 3 of our receivers.

I don’t know if Brooks played today other than special teams, but now that Thurman is out for the year and unlikely to be back as a Bengal that monster needs to see some play time.

Tory James got burned yet again, he is really starting to remind me of Rod ‘Toast’ Jones. I think that might be 3 weeks in a road he’s been beat bad for touchdowns.

C’mon Marvin get control down there. What happened to “Do Your Job?’

Teams that are doing their job don’t get blown out like that.

Who Dey! 3-0

Who Dey! Not the Pissburgh Stealers that’s who.

This weekend a group of (4) outstanding, and classy Cincinnati Bengal fans made the trip to Pittsburg to see the game and get what’s owed to us.

It was a guy thing so we had a lot of fun. Headed up Saturday, dropped off our stuff at the Hilton, went to Ruth Chris for a most delicious steak, then out to a bar (ended up being the bar at the Cheesecake factory of all places) then to see Jackass Two.

Yeah, guy stuff.

Then Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!

Hit the buffet at the hotel and wandered over to Stealer (yes that’s spelled right) territory.

Let me tell you… For the most part, football fans are football fans there are jerks everywhere, but Pittsburg has way more than their fair share.

A little hooting and hollering is expected. It’s all about the rivalry. Nothing wrong with being proud of your team, or even being pompous, hat too is expected.

But here’s the problem, being rude and vulgar to visiting fans, calling them f*ing garbage, is totally classless. The biggest part of this is it never happens where there is more than one Bengal fan around, but if you happen to find yourself alone, prepare to just get hammered with white-trash, insults. It doesn’t matter if kids are around.

There were Bengal fans that got egged walking to the game, totally lame. I thought Cleveland was trashy… Pittsburgh set a new low.

But we got what we came for. We are 3-0 while they are 1-2

We live for the now, they rest on their laurels of 5 super bowls. Don’t get me wrong. We’d love to have 5. But (4) of those happened back before these retard fans could even walk back in the 70’s. Maybe they’ll figure that out some day.

Let them continue to live in the past. I think the best part about it all was listening to Pittsburg radio on the way out of town. They are already after Cower…

Classless.

Photos of our adventure can be found here.

I will give Pittsburgh this. They got a way better deal on their stadium. Heinz field to be renamed Marvin Lewis Field for 2007 because Marvin is 3-1 there. Is nicer than Paul Brown and cost about 150 million less too.

Bengals 3-0 in the pre-season

Wow!

3-0 Three and Oh. Yeah, it’s still the pre-season and all but all three wins have been pretty impressive. Well, win #3 the Bengal’s looked about as good as Bret Farve looked bad.

But Carson is back and he’s for real and it’s better than where Pittsburg sits, which is 0-3.
Chad has been put on ice, this pre-season. I suspect their giving him a little attitude adjustment, helping him grow up just a little bit.

Rudy, however has not impressed, he’s clearly a north – south runner and hasn’t put to many yards down. He needs a few moves. Is it him, or the line? I don’t think it’s the line. Some of the younger guys look good, real good.

How big would a 4-0 preseason be? HUGE, given the schedule they face this year. Unbelievably big, the one’s that say “It’s only pre-season, are the ones with 2-2 or losing records???. It would be HUGE for the Bengals, period. To put Indianapolis in their place would be big, very, very big. It would set a tone in the league.

Here’s to next Friday, let’s see what they’ve got.
